Happy May Day! May Day makes me think of braids and braids have always been a beautiful mystery to me. I love love love any type of braided look but I can never seem to figure out how to achieve it! My friend Ashley (who is an amazing hair stylist/makeup artist) created this beautiful milkmaid braid look. It was perfect timing for an event I could attend last minute. Picnic by Design, with the theme parasols in the park. My outfit had to be adjusted last minute due to the rain and sudden drop in temperature. But a little rain wasn’t going to stop our party!
Originally, the suggested attire was white linen. Obviously that was now out of the question with the pouring rain. You can’t tell in the photos but it was raining quite hard (that’s why I am standing under the shelter of my roof!) It was a challenge to find a warm enough outfit that still fit a picnic garden party theme. Cashmere was my answer. I could have short sleeves but still stay warm in the outdoor tent. Overall the party was a success! The picnic table we designed raised a lot of money for some wonderful foundations.
My hair was definitely a conversation starter. Many people came up to me throughout the night to pay their compliments. A braided updo is always impressive and looks very intricate, even if it took you only 5 minutes! The baby’s breath matched the table we designed and added a bit of spring to the otherwise chilly night. To this I thank the brilliant Ashley.
