Maybe it’s because I’m an old school catholic school girl but I’ve always had a love affair with plaid skirts. Then Gossip Girl solidified my obsession with their bright tights under dark plaid. Now that is officially dipping into the 40’s/50’s, I can start to resurface my wool skirts from the back of my closet and show them the light of these chilly days. My friend Brianna of, @creativelycrinite, asked if we could do a photo shoot and of course I said YES. A wool plaid skirt, tucked in button up, and winged eyes created this look and the wind added in the tousled Bardot tangles. If you’re in the Vegas area and need some photos, check out Brianna’s work! Meanwhile we’ll be scheming up our next shoot!
Summer, the best time to have your birthday as a kid because that means you get to throw a pool party! What makes any pool party complete is a proper ratio of pool toys to water. You don’t want your entire pool filled with inflatables (then again.. maybe you do) or no inflatables at all. What really brings a pool party to the next level are the floats. A giant sprinkled floating donut or snow cone will make your party the most instgramable and most memorable. We put together a list of our favorite pool toys this summer so you can make your next pool party one for the books.
There’s nothing better than a twirly dress! Oh wait… how about a twirly dress with pockets?! Well this cute little summer dress has both: an A plus twirl factor and pockets deep enough for your lip gloss. It reminds me of a ballerina dress! I actually received this dress as a gift and knew it was going to be something great when I saw the Leith tag. Leith is one of my favorite brands for summer dresses that are casual enough to wear by the beach but can be dressed up for a night out. This little number is lightweight and has enough length to protect you from those seats that get more than toasty warm thanks to the summer sun. Read on to get this dress ON SALE!

I’m sure all of you have heard of a subscription box. It’s a little box full of goodies that arrives at your doorstep every week or every month or in this case, every season. Subscription box services always intrigued me because it’s a consistent surprise and I love when I get to track a parcel that’s on it’s way! But then I started to think, will I really use the items in these boxes? Or will I just tuck them away after the initial excitement has worn off? This sleek black box is full of goodies (over $400 worth) that I will actually use all year long and the beauty products are full size! Oh Rachel Zoe you know what a girl wants in the season of sun and deliver it flawlessly. Read on to see what’s inside this summer box (+ a special discount code) and my thoughts on it all!
Happy almost Fourth of July! We are prepping for tomorrow’s festivities and pool party! Fourth of July has always been filled with some of our best memories; all American rodeos, cherry red snow cones, the smell of a hot barbecue on a seemingly hotter day, and of course a stockpile of fireworks. In preparation for tomorrow, we made one of our favorite summer cakes. This light and airy buttermilk cake is perfect for the heat of July. We opted to stud our cake with raspberries (as we usually do) but you can fill your cake with any fruit your sweet tooth desires. Read on for the quick and easy recipe!
